Our featured TED Talks helps us understand what being a “misfit” is and why there is beauty in being a misfits. This is something I have been accused of during my life on more then one occasion so I really appreciated this TED Talk and I hope you do to.
To those who feel like they don’t belong: there is beauty in being a misfit. Author Lidia Yuknavitch shares her own wayward journey in an intimate recollection of patchwork stories about loss, shame and the slow process of self-acceptance. “Even at the moment of your failure, you are beautiful,” she says. “You don’t know it yet, but you have the ability to reinvent yourself endlessly. That’s your beauty.”
We all struggle with stress. Sure some of us struggle with it more then others but one thing we can all probably agree on is that we need to understand stress better. Kelly McGonigal tries to make us believe that stress can actually be good for us. Although I think I actually agree with what she is saying in this TED Talk I still wish I could find a way to eliminate it.
One thing I can NEVER be accused of is procrastination. From home to work I simply cannot stand procrastination.
I have always believed that this was in my DNA. It looks like I was pretty close to the truth. What I did not realize it that people like me actually have a “Panic Monster” to thank for the way we handle the things we do.
Here we have a TED Talk where Tim Urban talks about procrastination and we are taken on a 15 minute journey with Tim exploring the difference between procrastinators and non-procrastinators.
Now I know the truth about myself and people like me.
In this week’s Featured TED Talk we learn what keeps us happy and healthy as we go through life?
If you think it’s fame and money, you are not alone however according to psychiatrist Robert Waldinger, you are mistaken. As the director of a 75-year-old study on adult development, Waldinger has unprecedented access to data on true happiness and satisfaction.
In this talk, he shares three important lessons learned from the study as well as some practical, old-as-the-hills wisdom on how to build a fulfilling, long life.
I first viewed this TED Talk last year and I have actually returned to it a couple of times. We all have suffered through days like the one Daniel Levitin describes at the introduction of this amazing TED Talk.
I hope you find some good information here on how to better deal with stress, I know I did.
Our featured TED Talk this week teaches us about our body language and how we can understand and master it in order to help us communicate better with each other and help us look our best when dealing with others.
