A 14-year-old was taken into custody this week in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man on Staten Island.
Jamel Carmona, 36, was killed at the Stapleton Houses at 75 Hill St. on Wednesday night, Advance/SILive.com reported.
Police identified the suspect, who has not been named, through surveillance footage of the incident, the outlet said.
The teen has been charged with murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities responded to the scene of the stabbing around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. They found Carmona, who did not live in the building, collapsed in a pool of blood in the second floor hallway.
Video footage later revealed that Carmona entered the 75 Hill St. address and approached the suspect. Their conversation turned physical, and the boy stabbed Carmona before fleeing.
While police were initially called to the scene on suspicion of a gunshot injury, Carmona was found with a puncture wound to his upper left chest.
The weapon has not been recovered, Advance/SILive.com reported.

As of May 7, the outlet said, homicides in Staten Island are up 250 percent, with seven murders as compared to two at the same time last year.
