A 7-year-old boy from Michigan was killed after he was run over by a bulldozer driven by his father on Thursday, according to Michigan State Police.
The boy had fallen from a trailer being pulled by the bulldozer around 5:30 p.m. in Maple Grove Township in the western part of the state, officials told The Detroit News.
The child was declared dead at the scene, police said.
The death is believed to be accidental and no drug or alcohol use is suspected.
State police officials told the paper that the bulldozer had a history of malfunctioning. Specifically, the machine had been known to suddenly stop and shift into reverse, which is what authorities believe occurred.
