President Biden is set to deliver remarks about the ongoing efforts to get Americans and allies out of Afghanistan.
The president will also address the meeting he had with G7 leaders Tuesday morning, in which he reportedly said the US would stick to its Aug. 31 deadline to pull troops out of the Taliban-controlled country.
The decision could strand Americans and Afghans who helped the US military, and has drawn condemnation from critics who say the withdrawal mission was poorly executed.
About 58,700 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan in the last 10 days, the White House said Tuesday morning. Of those, at least 4,000 were Americans, a senior US official told The Post Monday.
