Brian Laundrie’s sister has been spotted for the first time since her fugitive brother’s backpack and notebook were discovered alongside human remains in a Florida park where authorities have spent weeks searching for him.
Cassie Laundrie was pictured Thursday morning with two cookies and her phone in her hand outside her Lakewood Ranch, Florida, home.
The sighting of Cassie came a day after the FBI revealed a backpack and notebook belonging to Laundrie had been discovered at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
Human remains were also found, but authorities stopped short of identifying them as Laundrie.
Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino told The Post that he believes the “probability is high” that the remains do belong to the 23-year-old.
The discovery of the remains came on the same day Laundrie’s parents, Chris and Roberta, showed up to help look for their son.
The area where the remains were located had, until recently, been underwater, the FBI said Wednesday.
Laundrie’s sister had publicly pleaded with her brother to “just come forward” and turn himself in when he first vanished after returning from a road trip without his girlfriend Gabby Petito, who was later found dead in Wyoming.
Cassie, who lives about 40 miles from where her parents and brother live in North Port, has also received death threats since Laundrie went missing.
Laundrie has been the subject of a massive manhunt since he vanished in September after arriving home alone in Florida from a cross-country trip with Petito on Sept. 1.
He quickly hired a lawyer and refused to cooperate with police.
His parents told police he went for a hike on Sept. 14 but never returned. They didn’t report him missing for four days.
Petito’s body was discovered last month at the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.
