Connecticut mother, daughter charged in Jan. 6 riot

A Connecticut mom and her teenage daughter were arrested Tuesday for their role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot – after a Facebook friend turned them into the FBI, court records show.

Agents ID’d mom Jean Lavin, 56, and daughter Carla Krzywicki, 19, after a tipster sent a screenshot of a post that showed photos taken as protesters stormed the Capitol, an FBI statement of facts said.

The post, by Krzywicki, included a picture taken inside of the building and a selfie of the smiling kin decked out in Trump winter hats taken outside of the building.

“This is history,” the post stated. “we do not go burning down your city and stealing from your business. we come for the government officials that are ruining our country.

“We go straight to the source. change needs to happen. that is our house and you work for us.”

Agents were able to identify the couple using cellphone data and in videos and photos by their clothing and an apparently homemade sign that said “TRUMP WON” featuring two American flags, court records said. The videos included an open-source video showing rioters including the mother-daughter pair climbing barricades that were being used as a ladder, according to documents.

Cops interviewed the mother and daughter at their home in Canterbury in June, and they both admitted to authorities that they’d taken a bus from Norwich to DC – but they missed a speech by then President Donald Trump because they were delayed when their bus driver was lost in New York City, records stated.

But they said they joined a crowd of people walking toward the Capitol building as Congress readied to certify Joe Biden’s win over Trump in the 2020 presidential election. The pair said they went into the building for about a half hour, left and then returned for another 20 minutes.

“LAVIN stated they entered the Capitol just to look around of curiosity,” the statement of facts said.

The daughter told agents her mother had fallen, prompting them to leave. She later deleted her Facebook post, she allegedly said, “because it seemed like a bad idea to leave it up.”

The two face a slew of charges including disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.
