Alabama cops on Monday were investigating possible sightings there of Brian Laundrie, who vanished last week as a search was under way for his missing girlfriend, Gabby Petito.

Mobile cops said they were looking into unconfirmed reports of Laundrie, 23, being spotted in the neighborhood of Tillman’s Corner, news station WKRG reported.

The community is more than 600 miles northwest of his home in North Port, Fla., where he had been staying with his parents before disappearing Tuesday.

Laundrie’s parents reported him missing Friday, claiming that he headed to a nearby nature preserve and never returned.

Rumors of Laundrie’s whereabouts have since flooded social media, with some Internet sleuths speculating that he may have been the body found in a dumpster outside of a Walmart in Tillman’s Corner on Monday.

The search for Laundrie comes after authorities found a body believed to be Petito in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming on Sunday.
