Ex-Marine accused of killing four people, including infant

An unhinged ex-Marine on meth allegedly shot dead four strangers, including an infant, inside their Florida homes early Sunday morning, a report said.

The killing spree in Lakeland, Fla. came to an end when 33-year-old suspect Bryan Riley surrendered after being struck once during a shootout with deputies, WLTX reported.

In one home, while clad in body armor, Riley fatally shot Justice Gleason, 40, a 33-year-old woman and a 3-month-old baby who was found dead in her mother’s arms, the report said.

An 11-year-old girl was also shot at least seven times and is miraculously expected to survive. She alerted deputies to the other victims.

“The 11-year-old – she looks our deputies in the eye and said: ‘There’s three more dead people in the house,’ ” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said at a Sunday press briefing.

In a nearby home, police said Riley killed the baby’s 62-year-old grandmother. The family dog was also shot dead.

“This man killed four people this morning, tried to kill our deputies and then gave up,” Judd said.

Investigators do not believe Riley knew the victims.

The disturbing violence came about nine hours after the suspect visited the same neighborhood and bizarrely said: “God sent me here to speak with one of your daughters, Amber.”

Neighbors told him nobody by that name lived there. They told him to leave and reported his suspicious behavior to police.

By the time police arrived Saturday night, he had already fled.

Riley, a security guard, was hospitalized after the rampage then jailed. He told police he was high on methamphetamine.

His girlfriend told police he had begun acting erratically after working security last week at an Orlando church and declaring God was speaking to him.

The suspected killer was a sharp shooter and completed tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, authorities said.

Riley’s girlfriend said he suffered from PTSD, but was never violent around her.

“He was a decorated military veteran. And this morning, he’s a cold, calculated murderer,” Judd, the sheriff, said.
