Father of Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola urges murder charges

The grief-stricken father of an interior designer who died after she was dumped outside a Los Angeles hospital along with her lifeless friend called for murder charges to be leveled against three suspects.

Luis Cabrales Rivera, 49, said that he hopes LA District Attorney George Gascón will “listen to his heart” and file tougher charges against the three men charged in the death of his daughter, Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26, and her friend, Christy Giles, 24, The US Sun reported.

“We want those people to spend the rest of their lives in prison and that they can’t hurt anyone ever again,” he told the outlet.

The three men arrested in connection with their deaths are David Pearce, 40, who was charged with manslaughter, and Michael Ansbach, 47, and Brandt Osborn, 42, who were accused of being accessories to manslaughter.

The coroner ruled Marcela Cabrales-Arzola’s death a homicide after she and Giles were dropped off at two separate hospitals by two masked men on Nov. 13.

Marcela Cabrales-Arzola and Giles both died of “multiple drug intoxication,” and Marcela Cabrales-Arzola also suffered organ failure, People reported Friday.

The three men arrested in connection with their deaths are David Pearce, 40, who was charged with manslaughter, and Michael Ansbach, 47, and Brandt Osborn, 42, who were accused of being accessories to manslaughter.

Cabrales-Arzola’s father said this week from his hometown of Monterrey, Mexico, that the homicide ruling “reopened our wounds.

“Obviously it’s a loss that we are never going to be able to forget and one just has to learn how to live with it,” he told The US Sun.

“Every update we get makes us remember what happened to our girl and makes us very sad,” he continued. “But now we have hope that finally charges will be presented for homicide and these people can be put behind bars and they will get what they deserve.

Cabrales-Arzola died of organ failure and “multiple drug intoxication,” with tests showing she had cocaine and MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, as well as other undetermined drugs in her system, People reported.

Giles — who was pronounced dead at the hospital on Nov. 13 had a lethal mix of cocaine, fentanyl, the anesthetic ketamine — a popular dissociative used as a party drug – and gamma-hydroxybutyrate acid, or GHB, commonly referred to as the date rape drug, People reported.

Cabrales-Arzola’s father added: “I imagine that the district attorney, with this ruling of homicide and death by drugs, will now have enough evidence to be able to accuse those men.

“We want the other tests to come back the quicker the better so they can present the appropriate charges,” the grieving dad added. “We want the district attorney to listen to his heart and bring the charges as soon as possible to get these people off the streets.”

Two days after his arrest, Pearce was hit with additional charges in connection with the sexual assault of four women between 2010 and 2020.

He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of forcible rape and one count each of rape of an unconscious or sleeping person and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

Osborn and Ansbach were booked on suspicion of being accessories to manslaughter, but the LA County District Attorney’s Office rejected the LAPD’s case against Osborn and his arrest was retroactively reduced to detention.

Ansbach, a cinematographer and cameraman, was released on Dec. 16 on $100,000 bond. Prosecutors have yet to file charges against him.

Giles and Cabrales-Arzola are believed to have met the three men at an after-hours warehouse party  earlier on Nov. 13, but they continued their night at Pearce’s apartment on Olympic Boulevard.

“We want the highest possible charges of murder,” Rivera told The US Sun.

“They did this knowing what could happen and didn’t even have the heart to take Hilda and Christy to hospital in time for the doctors to save their lives,” he said.
