Five people were injured, one seriously, when a car crashed into the lobby of a four-star hotel in Washington, DC, early Thursday, officials said.
The car was seen in images shared by DC Fire and EMS inside the heavily damaged and glass-strewn lobby of the Yotel Hotel on New Jersey Avenue Northwest, near Capitol Hill.
The gray sedan came to a stop alongside the front desk in the crash around 11 a.m., WUSA reported.
The seriously injured person was expected to survive and the four other people’s injuries were minor, according to officials.
Fire officials said the hotel’s structural integrity was not compromised in the incident and that the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs building inspector was sent to the scene.
The identities of those hurt and the driver were not immediately available. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
