Florida high school football coach allegedly raped goddaughter

A Florida high school assistant football coach has been accused of raping his teen goddaughter, police said.

Dominic Johnson, 36, who works at Miami Carol City Senior High School, was arrested Monday at the building on a charge of sexual battery of a minor by an adult, the Miami Herald reported.

Johnson — an 11-year Miami-Dade County Schools veteran who is also a security monitor at the high school — “denied the allegations” of raping his 16-year-old goddaughter at his North Miami-Dade home on Sunday after he was taken into custody, an arrest report shows.

The girl told cops Johnson raped her in a bathroom in his home, the report states.

“If I had the choice, I would have never spoke to him in the first place,” the 16-year-old girl told WSVN. “He ruined me, he gained my trust and he broke it.”

The teen and her family went straight to police after the alleged attack, WSVN reported.

“He forced himself onto me, he didn’t let me out of the bathroom,” she recalled. “He raped me.”

The teen’s mother said Johnson was once considered to be a member of their family.

“You were supposed to be her protector,” she told WSVN. “You failed us, you failed the community, coach.”

Johnson was ordered held on $25,000 bond, which he posted late Tuesday, the Herald reported.

School officials, meanwhile, have started the process to terminate Johnson’s employment.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply disturbed to learn about the circumstances that led to this individual’s arrest,” district officials told the Herald. “The allegations are reprehensible and unsettling, and will not be taken lightly.”

Johnson has been ordered to stay away from the teen and her family, WSVN reported. It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Johnson wasn’t at his home Tuesday afternoon, but neighbors said they were shocked to hear the accusations he faces.

“I am appalled at that,” one neighbor told WPLG. “If he really did that, I am appalled.”
