Gavin Newsom calls Chesa Boudin recall 'predictable'

California Gov. Gavin Newsom called the recall of uber-woke San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin “predictable,” and argued that the issue had not merited the widespread national coverage the vote sparked.

“That was so predictable, predictable, particularly after the school board recall,” Newsom told FOX 11 Los Angeles, referencing a February recall effort which ousted the city’s three far-left school board commissioners.

“I thought the punditry was a little overwhelming on it,” he added.

“I think the issue in San Francisco, in particular, is people want the streets cleaned up – period. Full stop. Enough,” Newsom continued.

“They want the streets cleaned up. They want a sense of order from the disorder they’re feeling on the streets.”

Newsom conceded that the Democrats who dominate state and local government in California bore responsibility for the out-of-control vagrancy and rampant street crime, but said the issue bedeviled cities across the country — including those run by Republicans.

Newsom himself survived a recall effort last year which was also fueled by quality of life concerns and frustration over the state’s crushing coronavirus restrictions — which many statewide pols, including Newsom, frequently flouted.
