Kabul Airport video is actually from 2019 Dallas Cowboys game

A shocking video making the rounds on social media claims to show a panicked crowd rush into the terminal at Kabul airport after Afghanistan fell to the Taliban — but the footage was shot in Texas.

The footage posted by several Twitter users, including by @Conflict_Zones, is actually a clip of anxious fans rushing into AT&T Stadium in Arlington for a 2019 game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks, Newsweek said in a report Thursday.

The clip was originally posted on Jan. 5, 2019, by Jon Machota, a reporter for The Athletic who was covering the game for the outlet.

“AT&T Stadium doors have opened for Cowboys vs Seahawks,” Machota wrote on the post.

There is plenty of legitimate documentation of the situation in Afghanistan, like the photo above from Kabul.

Meanwhile, there are ample images and videos circulating in the media and online showing the real-life desperate situation at the Afghan airport.

The Kabul airport was mobbed by hundreds of panicked Afghans desperate to flee the country after US troops pulled out and the Taliban seized the country.
