Meghan Markle reportedly could be deposed in Prince Andrew suit

Meghan Markle could be among the dozen or so people deposed as part of a lawsuit brought against Prince Andrew by accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre, a report said.

David Boies, who represents Giuffre, told Fox News they may depose Markle because they’re seeking witnesses who know the Duke of York or those who were in his “inner circle.”

“We want to have at least a couple of depositions of people who knew Prince Andrew and were sort of members of his inner circle at various times and who might have either have knowledge themselves or have knowledge about people who would have knowledge,” Boies told the news channel

“Meghan Markle, because of her position in the family, is one of those people. And because she’s in the United States, it’s easier to take her deposition than people in the United Kingdom. She is somebody who we are considering,” he added.

The possible deposition was first reported by the Daily Beast.

Giuffre claims in her suit that she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell and sexually abused by the embattled royal when she was 17 years old.

In the suit, which was filed in Manhattan federal court, Giuffre said she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York in Maxwell’s London home and elsewhere.

“During this encounter, Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew forced Plaintiff, a child, to have sexual intercourse with Prince Andrew against her will,” the suit states.

“On another occasion, Prince Andrew sexually abused Plaintiff on Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Little St. James,” it adds.

News of the proposed Markle deposition came as a Manhattan jury continues deliberating on whether to convict Maxwell on six counts, including sex trafficking.

Giuffre was not listed as a victim in the indictment against Maxwell and did not testify at her trial.

But evidence that Maxwell and Epstein flew with Giuffre across the country and that they recruited her for abuse was allowed into the trial as potential corroboration of a sex-trafficking conspiracy.
