Police release 911 calls after crash involving Henry Ruggs III

Newly released 911 calls captured frantic calls from witnesses who described the intense fire after a sports car driven by former NFL Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III slammed into an SUV, killing a 23-year-old woman.

“There’s a lady screaming for help in a Lamborghini. She’s trapped and there’s a vehicle on fire,” Michael Leone tells the dispatcher in the first of two recordings released by police Wednesday, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

When asked if there are two cars on fire, the witness says, “No. One car on fire and Lamborghini is up on the curb,” adding that someone is trapped in the sports car.

Ruggs, 22, was actually driving his Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, not a Lamborghini, with his girlfriend at 156 mph Tuesday when he rear-ended the Toyota Rav4, killing Tina Tintor, a 23-year-old Serbian immigrant, and her pet golden retriever.

He had a blood-alcohol content level of 0.161 percent, more than double the limit of 0.08, authorities said.

His longtime girlfriend, Kiara Kilgo-Washington, 23, suffered a serious arm injury from the crash. A loaded handgun also was discovered on the floor of the athlete’s wrecked vehicle, prosecutors said.

Ruggs was charged with DUI and reckless driving and cut by the Raiders on Tuesday.

“I thought I heard a dog yelping but I wasn’t sure if maybe that was my dog or something,” Leone tells the dispatcher. “It looks like one of the people pulled from a Lamborghini is unconscious. There is a security patrol car that’s helping assist them.”

He continues: “I want to say the Lamborghini was probably speeding. I mean, I heard loud revving, loud noises and then a big collision.”

In the second call, a woman tells the dispatcher she was in bed when she heard the crash.

“It’s on fire! Oh my god, they can’t get no one to help — the whole thing’s on fire,” she says, according to the recording. “All I see is flames, and it’s almost all gone … someone’s in there, I think.”

On Wednesday, Ruggs’ attorneys launched a bid to keep his medical records out of the hands of prosecutors.

The athlete didn’t appear in person in court as a prosecutor filed additional felony charges of DUI causing substantial injury and misdemeanor possession of a gun while under the influence that could mean additional prison time if he is convicted.

Ruggs, who is on house arrest with strict conditions while his criminal case proceeds, posted $150,000 bail for his release from jail.

He was picked 12th overall in the 2020 NFL draft after three years at Alabama during which he helped the Crimson Tide win the NCAA championship as a freshman in 2017.
