President Biden will tour the NYPD’s headquarters in Lower Manhattan later this week during his trip to the Big Apple to discuss the surge in gun violence, The Post has learned.
A high-ranking police official confirmed the news after cops were told of a “VIP” coming to One Police Plaza on Thursday.
Biden announced his visit to New York City last week in the wake of the killing of two NYPD police officers in Harlem.
The president is expected to meet with Mayor Adams, a retired police captain, to discuss a “comprehensive strategy to combat gun crime.”
Adams has voiced excitement about the visit — recently joking that he is Biden’s favorite mayor.
It was not immediately clear was what on POTUS’s agenda for his visit to NYPD’s HQ.
The last time a sitting president visited 1PP was back in 2011 when President Obama stopped by to praise the police force for its efforts in combating terrorism.
