No one has taken responsibility for the shooting, though the city, and the surrounding Nangarhar province, have become a hotbed of Islamic State terrorism in recent weeks.

Last month three people were killed in a car bombing in Jalalabad which targeted Taliban vehicles. Isis-K later claimed responsibility.

The latest bombing underscores the growing conflict between the Taliban and their even more extreme rivals.

No group has officially taken responsibility for the shooting. In addition to the four people who were killed, two more were wounded.
