The maniac who opened fire inside a Kroger in Tennessee Thursday, killing one person and wounding a dozen others, is believed to have been an employee of the supermarket, according to reports.
A current worker at the store, along with the relative of another, recognized the shooter who turned the gun himself after the horrific afternoon bloodshed at the chain’s Collierville location, according to WMC.
A police source also told ABC 24 that the shooter was a worker who had been fired this morning.
The mass shooting sent shoppers and employees running for their lives, hiding in freezers and locked officers to escape the madman.
“It’s horrible,” Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane said at a press briefing. “I’ve been involved in this for 34 years and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
It is believed the shooter acted alone. When police arrived, he was found in the back of the store dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
During another press conference Wednesday night, Lane would not confirm reports that the shooter was a worker at the store.
