Former President Donald Trump is fundraising off the resignation of “total loser” and soon-to-be former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
“Andrew Cuomo has got real problems – he handled COVID horribly and he’s DESTROYED New York – and it’s about time he resigned,” Trump said in an email blast.
“To tell you the truth, this guy is a TOTAL LOSER, and New York, as well as the entire Country, is better off without him.”
Trump told readers there’s a “1-HOUR 250%-MATCH” on donations to the Save America Joint Fundraising Committee. It’s unclear what person or entity is making the matching contribution.
Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi called Trump’s solicitation “more of the same debunked lies and gibberish.”
Cuomo is under investigation by at least four New York district attorneys for sexual misconduct and under federal investigation for an admitted cover-up of data on COVID-19 deaths at New York nursing homes.
President Biden on Tuesday gave a stunning appraisal of Cuomo’s overall performance, saying that he did “a hell of a job” as governor despite harassing subordinates.
“He’s done a hell of a job. And I mean, both on — everything from access to voting to infrastructure to a whole range of things. That’s why it’s so sad,” Biden said.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki, by contrast, praised the “courageous women” whose complaints forced Cuomo’s resignation.
